A friend came to me one day and he said he can´t start his car. The starter motor turns but the engine wont start. Of course the first logical question I asked was: what car is it? As soon as I heard Renault, I knew it´s a IMMO problem. Renault are famous for they bad IMMO especially Clio, Lacuna and Megane but also the rest of them. In general Renault have poor electronics inside. No offense for Renault fans, I just say from what I saw and read on various forums. In this case you have 3 options:
1) Reset the IMMO and hope it works
2) Replace and reprogram both the IMMO and ECU
3) Bypass it A.K.A. Kill it.
If the first doesn't work, I recommend the 3´rd as replacing and reprogramming takes a lot of money, especially if you to the ´´stealership´´ with it.

One way is just to reset the immobilizer (IMMO). I found a website that says exactly how so fortunately I wont have to describe it here. Just click the button bellow and it will take you there.
However, this doesn't always solve the immobilizer issue and you´ll have to come up with a serious diagnose and to do that you´ll need serious scanning tools witch in terms are very expensive and you only need to do this job once, because you´ll soon sell the car, I guarantee it.
So another way is to KILL IT. One might say, but how, because the car will not run without it. Of course it will, if you manage to give a false signal to electronic command unit (ECU) that the car has an IMMO and is working. The draw-back of this job would be that you´ll be able to start the car with any key, with or without chip, since you have a dead IMMO it doesn't really matter anymore if you have a good and valid code from the key transponder.
You can find on e-bay a small chip with 3 wires, if you´re good with electronics you can do it at home, but it doesnt worth it, better order it. It´s called ´´immo killer´´. You connect that to the fuse panel and then you´ll have to decode the ECU. There is a cheap and simple tool called ECU decoder, you order that on ebay also and you´re set.

This is how the IMMO killer looks like. It will come with instructions so it should be pretty straight forward.
And here is the ECU decoder. A really nice tool, a bit slow. The decoding takes about 1,5 hours. This comes also with instructions and how to wire it. Call a friend if you´re not very talented into reading wire schematics, although it´s pretty simple, but you don't want to wire it wrong because it will fry your ECU in no time and that would be bad.
In the middle picture you can see the actual set-up for ECU decoding. You´ll need also a control lamp both for regulating the signal and to be sure the process is not interupted and everything goes smooth. The decoder is compatible with most of the Renault ECU so that is a good thing because I can use it on the future also.
